Be part of the Guinness World Record now!

Did you know that paper is derived from a renewable raw material and can be recycled or used to generate bioenergy? Yet, most firms and individuals purchase fresh paper as it is relatively inexpensive as compared to recycled paper, and a large portion of paper and its products are not being recycled.

As part of our challenge to enhance recycling awareness and promote green practices, the Event Organising Committee plans to create the largest piece of handmade recycled paper in March at Ci Yuan Green Park Pavilion. We will attempt to beat the existing Guinness World Record (GWR) of 72m2 set by the Manchester City Council in 2004.

The paper will be cut up after the record-breaking attempt and distributed to bring across the “green” message that a little effort in conservation, in particular recycling, on an individual’s part makes a difference to the Earth. Notepads and wish tags will be made and distributed during NYEC, where the public will be asked to write down their wish for the environment and hang their very own wish tags on our wishing board that would be displayed the entire day.

Should you have any queries, feel free to email us at enquiries.nyec@gmail.com.
